The people that make it happen
Ann Marie Amato
First impressions are lasting ones and as one of the “faces” of the College Hype retail store, Ann Marie Amato couldn’t make a more positive impact.
With a background that includes experience in the drug store and greeting card industries, Ann Marie is keenly aware of the importance of superior customer service, something she consistently delivers at College Hype.
Ann Marie lives in her hometown of Dorchester. Married with adult children and five grandchildren, she is an avid reader and gardener and a self-described “dabbler” in arts and crafts.
Ask Ann Marie what her pet peeve is and she will quickly say “wasting time” – it’s something she just can’t tolerate! She loves a good steak, would like to travel to Greece or other Mediterranean countries and names the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. as the most memorable place she has ever visited.
Ann Marie is a fan of “any home town team from Boston/New England” and can’t get enough of the movie “Home Alone.”
And if you visit our retail store and hear someone singing, it’s likely Ann Marie and her rendition of her favorite tune “Rescue Me” by Fontella Bass. She might also entertain you with a little Beatles, or Sinatra or Billy Joel or Motown…depends on her mood!
President Jack Doherty says Ann Marie is the real deal; she truly cares about the customer and does a dynamite job getting our online orders out in a timely fashion. Ann Marie gets it!
Employee since 2014
Cheryl is a solid force on the production team with an extensive background in screen printing and apparel. A loyal Boston girl who loves the Red Sox and the Celtics, Cheryl also enjoys cooking her favorite Caribbean dishes for her husband and two children.
Employee since 2014
Chris Scarborough is a valued member of the College Hype team, bringing a great work ethic and positive attitude with him to work each and every day.
Prior to joining College Hype, Chris was a shift supervisor with Frito Lay. There, he developed strong time management and organizational skills which contribute greatly to the efficiency of our receiving department.
With a perfect track record of attendance, and always on-time each and every day he has worked here, Chris is an ideal employee. He has a thing about being tardy – just can’t abide by it in himself or anyone else.
Chris names “anything bad” as his favorite food…but seriously, he does enjoy a hearty breakfast.
He’d love to take a trip to Graceland, seeing that Elvis is his favorite performer of all time. As for TV entertainment, just give Chris a few hours of “The History Channel” and he’s happy!
Chris calls himself “as boring as can be” but his friends, family and colleagues know him as a low key kind of guy who enjoys his work and always gets the job done with a smile.
President Jack Doherty describes Chris as incredbily reliable and consistent. "What he does for this company behind the scenes is huge...it often goes unnoticed, but it makes everything run better."
Employee since 2016
Danny is a graduate of University of New Hampshire and is a hardworking and eager addition to the Sales Department. Danny is dedicated to learning everything he can about sales and the College Hype company. Jumping right into a sales position directly out of college, Danny has already begun proving his commitment to furthering his knowledge.
Employee since 2008
Greg Calkins is a “go to” guy when it comes to outside sales and team spirit! Since 2008 when he first joined the College Hype team, Greg’s good nature, sense of humor and strong work ethic has been a legendary staple around here.
Greg’s customer base includes restaurants, golf tournament organizers, businesses, and schools. In particular, the school market is one Greg knows well. Before joining us, he was part of a family business - Calkins Photography Inc. – where they photographed schools, as well as weddings and sports events across the state.
Braintree is home for Greg, where he lives with his wife Patty. They are parents to three children: Jen, Dan and Matt – and they love spending time with their two grandchildren.
Greg’s pet peeve is people who do not follow through; and if he could travel to a place he’s never been before, it would be Hawaii. He’s an “Old School Springsteen” music fan who loves sports (in particular the Bruins), and Italian food.
For years, Greg has been a regular in a men’s hockey league. But, he says, he is considering trading in his skates for golf clubs, as he recovers from recent knee surgery and a shoulder rotator cuff repair.
Employee since 1990
Jack is a “Dorchester guy” who first came up with the idea for College Hype more than 27 years ago, as a student at Westfield State College. From the humble beginnings of a dormitory room, he began printing T-shirts that poked fun of the college’s rules and policies. Almost instantly, he realized he had a winner of an idea on his hands, and he switched gears from the idea of being a teacher to starting his own business in earnest. Fast-forwarding to today, Jack and his team still have fun with the merchandise they produce – most notably, a “Snow Blows” T-shirt, which captures the sentiments of how everyone viewed the winter of 2015. And, then there’s the “Free Brady, Fire Goodell, Finish the Job” shirts that everyone loves!
Along the way, Jack has pulled together a talented team of 20 to help with the company’s diverse, growing client base. He sees his greatest strength as “getting around the right people, from my wife to the people I have hired.” When not working on new designs and concepts, he may be at an EO (Entrepreneurs’ Organization/Boston) function, or coaching his son’s and daughter’s hockey team.
Jack’s colleagues describe him as an outgoing, “people person;” and someone with a good sense of humor. Although he is passionate about his work, he is even more so about his family. He lives not too far from College Hype with his wife, Ann Marie, and their five children.
Employee since 1995
Jody Bulman is an essential member of the College Hype team and has been for 20 years.
She joined the company part-time as a college student, working from the retail store. Upon graduating from Bridgewater State College, Jody came on full-time as Purchaser/Office Manager/Retail Manager.
Today, Jody is Office/Business Manager/Finance Manager, handling all day-to-day finances at College Hype.
Jody and her husband and their two children live on the South Shore. She is on the Parent Council at her daughters’ school and will soon become treasurer of the organization. She is also assistant soccer coach at the school. In her free time Jody enjoys activities with her husband, children, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews.
“Grey’s Anatomy” is her favorite TV show and “Pretty Woman” is her “go to” movie. Jody has a passion for the Bruins and a trip to Ireland is on her “bucket list.”
Originally from Dorchester, Jody is a past board member of the Dorchester Board of Trade and takes pride in volunteering at the Pine Street Inn as a member of “the College Hype team.”
Remarkable business skills coupled with outstanding customer service aptitude make Jody Bulman the consummate Office/Finance Manager.
Senior Vice President Joe Foley states that working with Jody is always a treat! Jody knows the ins and outs of College Hype and she never misses a beat when it comes to doing her job. She is a pleasure to have on the team.
Employee since 2016
College Hype upped its game with the hiring of John Jeub. His happy personality, extensive Wholesale and Retail experience, and strong customer service not only makes John a great team player, he is a dream for our customers to work with.
John is a graduate of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Before College Hype, he was the General Merchandise Manager at the MIT Coop Bookstore in Cambridge, MA. If he is caught singing a tune around the office, it would surely be a Jimmy Buffett song. His bucket list trip includes a visit to Ireland, and his favorite movie is 'For Love of the Game'.
John has quickly built strong relationships with his customers, and embodies College Hype's core values in everything he does.
Employee since 2000
College Hype would not be the same without Joe Foley. About 15 years ago, Joe met College Hype President Jack Doherty at an Lstreet Running Club training run. Joe became part of the College Hype sales team, working his way up to Senior Vice President. He now oversees general operations at College Hype and assists Doherty with overall strategy for the company’s continued growth.
A graduate of Stonehill College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Foley was a Sales Manager for JNKidds Distribution, before becoming a member of the College Hype Team.
Joe lives in the South Shore with his wife and son. He remains in the Lstreet Running Club and enjoys volunteering at the Boston Marathon each year. He has run 12 marathons and completed numerous triathlons including and Iron Distance Triathlon in Plymouth MA. He can more recently be found biking with his family in the warmer months.
Joe is stickler when it comes to being on time; in fact his pet peeve is arriving to an appointment “anything less than five minutes early.” He enjoys travel, with his most interesting destination to date being the Grand Canyon and Sedona; Hawaii is on his “to get to” list.
Down time for Joe finds him listening to U2 (“Beautiful Day” is his favorite tune), catching a few episodes of “Shark Tank” and rooting for any New England sports team, especially the Pats.
A combination of strong business skills and people skills make Joe Foley one remarkable Senior Vice President.
President Jack Doherty credits Joe with success of the company the last few years…Joe literally does it all!
Without Joe Foley we are not the same Team….With Joe we are a Division one organization!
Kathleen Hickey couldn’t be more suited to her role as Retail/School Sales Associate. Her customer service skills make her the ideal person to serve retail and educational facility customers. In addition she monitors inventory.
With College Hype for two years, Kathleen is originally from Dorchester, but now lives in Milton where she enjoys spending time with her three children.
She has a real strong sense of pride in the College Hype brand and has worked with founder Jack Doherty on a number of projects, including their “Move Past It” line.
President Jack Doherty states that Kathleen not only ‘gets it’ she ‘wants it’… and that is good business for the parents….THEY LOVE DEALING WITH KATHLEEN and She in turn loves dealing with them
As Director of Operations, Kathy Keefe is instrumental in monitoring the day-to-day activities of College Hype, working in close conjunction with Senior Vice President Joe Foley and President Jack Doherty.
Kathy joined College Hype a couple years back, having previously spent 24 years in a variety of management and leadership roles within her family business, Holovak & Coughlin Sporting Goods, located in Arlington.
At Holovak & Coughlin Sporting Goods Kathy wore many hats, including Office Manager, Director of Operations and head of Human Resources. Her last role with Holovak & Coughlin was team sales for both cheerleading and booster club functions, with a specialty in cheerleading and spirit wear.
The company closed its retail operation when the wholesale division was acquired by a national company. Kathy and Jack Doherty, both Westfield State College grads, had kept up with each other over the years and when Kathy became professionally available, Jack invited her to join the College Hype team.
Kathy lives in Weymouth with her husband and their three children. She is the former Weymouth Middle School Parent Council President and is Chair of the Weymouth High School Softball Boosters. While she has a keen interest in the New England Patriots, Kathy also includes “any team my kids are playing for” as her favorite.
An optimist by nature, Kathy’s one pet peeve is “not enough time in the day.” She is a big fan of pizza, loves the TV show “Big Bang Theory” and is amazed at the talent on “The Voice.” Her dream vacation would be to Hawaii.
Vast experience in the retail/wholesale industry, strong communication skills and a genuinely friendly disposition make Kathy Keefe the consummate Director of Operations.
President Jack Doherty says Kathy is a person who has all our ‘CORE VALUES’ and that makes her a critical player as the Company continues to grow

Kim Cameron’s expertise as an embroidery specialist is central to the quality that is at the very core of the College Hype business model.
With the company for 12 years, Kim formerly worked for more than a decade in the apparel industry at Wearguard and Work-n-Gear. The talented embroidery professional is also a licensed manicurist.
Kim is a graduate of Marshfield High School and lives in Weymouth with her husband. As a member of the College Hype team she has volunteered at the Pine Street Inn in the past, something she hopes to do again.
As for relaxation, Kim enjoys traveling throughout New England, days at the beach, fishing, cooking, baking and craft work.
President Jack Doherty states Kim is an all-star, she gets the job done….no matter what. At times she juggles multiple jobs at a time and always delivers on time and under budget!
Maggie Isleb is a South Shore girl with a Bachelor of Arts from Newbury College in Brookline, MA. She has a keen eye for art and design, and is a great addition to our Art Department.
With great organization and time management skills, Maggie is able to juggle multiple duties, offering support to several departments within College Hype. Maggie is a huge asset to these departments, providing that extra level of attention to Sales and lending assistance to the art department when needed. Her efforts help move jobs along faster and better, thereby raising our level of quality and efficiency.
Maggie spends her after-hours time traveling and hiking. Southeast Asia is one trip on her to-do list still. Painting and fitness are also top on her list. She also loves to eat and cook. Parks and Recreation is her favorite TV Show, and it therefore comes as no surprise to learn that she has road tripped and camped in 10 Southwestern US National Parks.
Employee since 2007
In addition to fine quality workmanship, College Hype also has a reputation for the highest caliber customer service, in large part due to Margaret Dooley, customer service sales assistant.
Margaret joined College Hype eight years ago, having previously worked as a referral specialist at Manet Health Center and office manager with Unishippers.
Margaret received an Associate’s Degree from Bay State College. She lives in her hometown of Dorchester and is actively involved with MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), volunteering to assist with the organization’s annual awareness fundraising events.
From a large family, Margaret enjoys spending time with friends and relatives and likes to travel, particularly to Aruba, although she names Ireland as the most interesting place she’s visited. And on her travel “bucket list” is Hawaii and Alaska.
During down time, Margaret likes to tune into her favorite shows “Scandal” and “Blacklist” and as far as music goes, she leans toward country, but chooses “Come on Eileen” by the British pop band Dexys Midnight Runners as tops.
She loves the Bruins and a good plate of scallops – yes, our Margaret is a real Boston gal.
Superior customer service skills and strong sales aptitude define Margaret Dooley in her essential role within College Hype.
Jack Doherty and Joe Foley both echoed the same comments on Margaret….she is the ultimate poster person for College Hype….she has all the ‘Core’ values and then some. Trust, Loyalty, Team player etc. etc. etc. you name it Margaret has it all. Customers love her and she loves and cares for her customers.
Boston-based Patrick went to Boston Latin School, UMass Amherst and is now furthering his education by taking classes at UMass Boston. His background working for the city has allowed him to be open and willing to learn new positions and different aspects of production and the company as a whole.
Valerie Wilcock comes to College Hype's Art Department with 10 years of Graphic Design experience, most of which was spent in the Screenprint industry.
Originally from Central New York, she now calls the South Shore home.
Val has a keen eye for layout, specifically as it applies to designing apparel logos. She is a great asset to the Art Department.
Val hopes a trip to Ireland is in her future, where she can fully exercise her love for potatoes. She hopes to learn more sign language someday, but in the meantime she finds amusement in TV shows with Vampires, and going to the movies.
Vice President Joe Foley says that Val is a very versatile employee, able to learn and build skills quickly in both embroidery and screenprint art.
Victor comes from a manufacturing background in the granite industry where he built a strong work ethic and passion for customer service. He is new to the College Hype team but has shown incredible enthusiasm and passion for screen printing and embroidery. He has only been with the College Hype team for about 3 months now but already shows impressive leadership skills through his constant attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot.
Zaida Rosa is truely the 'Rose' of the Production team. She is known for brightening up her co-workers days with a big rosy smile.
Bringing her 10 years of experience in the screenprint industy, Zaida handles the manual 4-head at College Hype. She provides consistent, quality prints on some of the most challenging articles of clothing that we offer. She steps up to the challenge each and every time.
Zaida loves listening to any fast music while she is on press, no doubt perfecting her dance moves for the trip she wants to take to Hawaii someday.
Her favorite movie is the cartoon version of Robin Hood. She is a big fan of veggies, which is probably why she is able to spend multiple hours on her feet at the press.
President Jack Doherty says Zaida is dependable and always willing to rise to any challenges.
