Submitting Logo or Digital Art

For optimal results with our screen printing machines, we recommend vector files (AI, EPS, PDF). However, our skilled design team can work with high-resolution JPG or PNG files when necessary.

Not Recommended

For artwork submission, we do not recommend using Microsoft Office formats including DOC (Word), XLS (Excel), PPT or PPS (PowerPoint), or other formats like Publisher and Virtual Card. While we can extract images from these files with additional processing time, it's less efficient than preferred formats. If your logo was created in a Microsoft Office application, providing a high-quality printed version is more effective than submitting the original file.

Step 3: Select Ink

College Hype offers standard ink colors for screen printing, with custom PMS color matching available at $35 per color. For specialty ink colors or embellishments like shimmer, puff, vintage, half-tones, or glow-in-the-dark effects, customers should contact the company directly for options and pricing.

Step 4: Screens

For Immediate Assistance Call (617) 282-8883

College Hype requires a separate screen (stencil) for each color in your design, with each screen containing the artwork to transfer ink onto the garment. New screens must be produced for all new artwork submitted. However, these screens can be reused if a customer wishes to place a reorder of the same design, which helps reduce costs for repeat orders.

Reordering saves you money. We keep your screens and artwork on file, so repeat orders skip the setup cost and go straight to production.

Take A Look At How Our Process Works...

Screen Printing FAQs

Q: What is screen printing and how does it differ from other printing methods?

A: Screen printing is a technique where ink is pressed through a mesh screen onto fabric. Unlike digital printing, screen printing creates more vibrant colors on dark fabrics and has superior durability. For businesses and organizations in Boston looking for long-lasting custom apparel, screen printing is often the preferred method for its exceptional color vibrancy and wash resistance.

Q:  How many colors can be used in screen printing t-shirts?

A: At our Weymouth print shop, we can print up to 9 colors on a single design. However, most designs typically use 1-6 colors for optimal cost-efficiency. Each color requires a separate screen in the silk screen printing process, which impacts both production time and pricing.

Q: What type of garments can be screen printed?

A: Our screen printing machines can print on various materials including cotton, polyester, cotton/poly blends, performance fabrics, canvas, and more. Beyond t-shirts, we print hoodies, sweatshirts, polos, jackets, tote bags, and other fabric items.

Q: Do you offer design services for screen printing?

A: Yes! Our in-house graphic design team can create custom artwork for your screen printing project or optimize your existing designs for the silk screen printing process. This service is particularly valuable for businesses and organizations without dedicated design resources.

Q: Can you match specific brand colors in screen printing?

A: Yes, our Massachusetts screen printing shop uses the Pantone Matching System (PMS) to accurately reproduce brand colors. This precision color matching is especially important for Boston businesses and organizations with established brand standards.

Q: What artwork formats work best for screen printing?

A: For optimal results with our screen printing machines, we recommend vector files (AI, EPS, PDF). However, our skilled design team can work with high-resolution JPG or PNG files when necessary. If you're in the Boston area, we're happy to review your artwork in person at our Weymouth location.

Q: What is the typical turnaround time for a screen print order?

A: Most orders are produced in 7-10 business days from artwork approval. Rush production is available — ask your rep. Because production is in-house, we control the schedule rather than waiting on a third-party printer.

Q: Is there a minimum order quantity?

A: Our minimum order quantity is 24 units. Your rep will tell you the most cost-effective quantity for what you need.

Q: What areas do you serve?

A: We serve businesses, schools, sports teams, and organizations across Greater Boston, the South Shore, and all of Southern New England, with production in Weymouth, MA and a retail location in Dorchester. Local delivery and pickup are available, and we ship throughout New England.

Q: Why choose College Hype over a national online printer?

A: With a national printer, you get a web form. With College Hype, you get a dedicated rep who knows your company, 35+ years of workwear experience, and an in-house production facility 20 minutes from Boston.
