Every year, the Boston Marathon reminds us that it’s more than just 26.2 miles—it’s about community, resilience, and purpose. This year, we’re proud to stand behind some incredible people who embody exactly what this race represents.

Bill & Denise Richard: Walking with Purpose

Bill Richard and Denise Richard have long been symbols of strength, love, and resilience in the Boston community. As the founders of the Martin Richard Foundation, they’ve turned unimaginable tragedy into a mission rooted in kindness, inclusion, and opportunity for others.

This year, they are taking on the marathon in an incredibly meaningful way—walking alongside Thomas Smith and supporting the Thomas E. Smith Foundation. Thomas himself is a powerful example of perseverance, having completed multiple Boston Marathons despite paralyzing spinal cord injuries—all while raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for those affected by paralysis.

Their goal this year is to raise $50,000, and we want to help them get there.

At College Hype, Bill and Denise aren’t just community leaders—they’re friends. And when friends step up to do something this impactful, we step up with them.

Matt Brown & Lucas Carr: Defining What’s Possible

If you’re looking for inspiration, look no further than Matt Brown and Lucas Carr.

After a spinal cord injury left Matt paralyzed in high school, Lucas stepped in—not just as a supporter, but as a teammate. Since 2012, the two have taken on the Boston Marathon together, pushing through every mile side by side.

Today, they run for the Matt Brown Foundation, which supports individuals and families affected by paralysis and serious injuries. Their journey has helped raise significant funds and awareness, proving year after year that limitations don’t define what’s possible.

We’re proud to be partnering with Matt again this year. He continues to inspire not just us, but an entire community that rallies behind his mission.

This year’s goal: $10,000—and every dollar makes a difference.
