We wanted to share a great local event happening tonight, Thursday, May 21, at 5:30 PM at the Hingham Historical Society — the Bill Brett Boston Veterans Appreciation Night.

Man in a white cap smiling and holding a book titled "Boston Veterans Appreciation." The cover shows various veterans. Background is blurred.

The evening will begin with a special recognition honoring members of the Hingham High School Class of 2026 whose post-graduation plans include service in the United States Armed Forces. As America commemorates the 250th anniversary of its founding and continues celebrating Hingham’s own Major General Benjamin Lincoln, the event will recognize these young men and women for their dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to public service.

Following the recognition, acclaimed longtime Boston Globe photographer Bill Brett will speak about his new book, Boston Veterans Appreciation, a powerful tribute in portraiture to veterans and the military community. A reception will follow the conversation.

Signed copies of the book will also be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the Society’s 250th programming.

This is a free event, but spots are limited, so advance registration is recommended.
