Last week, College Hype Weymouth opened it's doors to a group of kids from the Dorchester Boys & Girls Club who brought enough energy to power our entire embroidery department. It wasn’t just a tour; it was a full-blown takeover of our shop, and honestly? We loved every second of it.

Go Behind the Scenes at College Hype Weymouth

The day kicked off in our receiving area, where Jack did what he does best: getting everyone pumped up. He gave the group the lowdown on what we’re all about—he went over our core values and what makes College Hype so great.

From there, we hit the floor to show them how the magic happens:

  • Receiving: David took the lead in receiving, showing the kids how we track every single piece of gear. It’s the "organized chaos" that starts the whole process.

  • Embroidery: Kim gave the grand tour of the stitching world. There’s something hypnotic about watching those high-speed needles fly—the kids were glued to the machines.

  • Screenprint: Liam led the way into screenprinting. He didn’t just talk shop; he shared his own journey in the industry and answered every "how-to" question the kids threw at him. It was awesome to see them connect with the craft.

Hands-On Highlights: Heat Presses & Water Blasters

The real highlight was letting the kids get their hands dirty. Nick took over at heat press, and every single student got to step up and press a custom number onto the back of their very own shirt. You could see the "I made this!" pride on their faces instantly.

And because we know kids and water go together like ink and screens, we headed to the wash area. We let them loose with the pressure washers to clean the screens. It was loud, a little bit messy, and a total hit with the whole group.

Pizza, Prizes, and a Surprise Guest

We wrapped things up in the showroom, but we didn’t just sit around. We threw a full-on pizza and dance party. Between the "Spin the Wheel" prizes and the music, the vibes were through the roof.

The icing on the cake? Our good friend Paul Wahlberg dropped by to say hello. Having a local legend stop in to hang with the kids made an already great day feel legendary.

Building the Future Together

At the end of the day, our shop is about the people. Seeing the talent and curiosity from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester reminded us why we love being a part of this community.

To the kids and staff: You guys are welcome back anytime. We can't wait for the next visit!
